Recently I spent four nights camping at the Cairngorms Glamping Campsite in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire. I was there with my sister, her husband, their 5 kids and their dog, all on their first family camping trip. We had an amazing time!
The Cairngorms Glamping Campsite offers three camping options, standard pitch, electric hook-up pitches and they also have four glamping huts, complete with hot-tubs. The standard pitches are £28 a night per pitch, the electric pitches are £38 a night and the glamping huts cost £140 a night.

We camped on the standard pitch, which housed 2 adults, 5 kids and a dog for £28 a night!
The scenery is fantastic, with the rolling hills of the edge of the Cairngorms National Park surrounding the campsite. The animals in the nearby fields add a nice, pleasant and relaxing soundtrack. It’s a very peaceful place to be.
The kids had loads to do, there is a zip-line, swing-ball, trampoline, giant connect 4, a sandpit, football goals and there is a selection of bikes & go-karts for the kids to use too. They were not bored once in the four days here.
In terms of facilities there is ample toilets, a couple of shower rooms and dish-washing facilities. The water was constantly hot and all the facilities were spotlessly clean. Drinking water taps are conveniently located throughout the campsite. There is a hot-food takeaway on site as well as a site shop. The staff were helpful, incredibly laid-back and friendly too.
Cairngorms Glamping Critter Corner
The Critter Corner was a particular highlight, which the kids (and adults) loved. In the two fields next to our tent there were sheep, alpacas, a donkey, several ponies and the adorably cheeky pygmy goats. Access to the Critter Corner is included in your camping fees, although you can purchase a bucket of food for £1 from the on-site shop. This then allows to you feed and interact with the animals.

All in all the Cairngorms Glamping Campsite is fantastic value for families and is surely the best campsite in Scotland for kids. I simply cannot see how it could be better tailored for children & families.
I would highly recommend the campsite to families looking for a tranquil, peaceful camping experience with lots of fun, laughter and entertainment for kids.
We enjoyed it so much, we immediately booked in for another stay the next month. You can book your stay on the Cairngorms Glamping website.
