I’ve been wanting to fly in a glider for years and I’m delighted I finally got around to it. I was given a voucher for a 1-mile high trial glider flight at Deeside Gliding Club for my birthday.
The members at Deeside Gliding Club made me feel very welcome, it’s very relaxed and laid back. They went through the safety aspects and explained how the glider works. We then got a tow up to half a mile and I was able to spend 25 minutes observing the wonderful Aberdeenshire scenery.
Unfortunately we couldn’t make it all the way to 1 mile up, so I get to go back again for another flight when the weather is better. I might try some airborne infrared photography next time.
All in all the trial glider flight was an amazing experience and one that I would highly recommend. I wouldn’t mind learning to fly a glider at some point in the future…
